New Delhi: Harshita Kejriwal, daughter of Arvind Kejriwal, the chief of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and former Chief Minister of Delhi, wed her IIT Delhi batchmate Sambhav Jain at a private event at Delhi’s Kapurthala House. The wedding itself was a milestone for a couple that had, until that point, only launched a startup together, though it was attended by just family and friends.
The engagement, which took place earlier at the Shangri-La Hotel in Delhi, was equally understated, attended only by close family members and a few trusted associates. Prominent AAP leaders, including Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and family, also attended the event. But notables like Atishi were missing from the gathering, as the family wanted to keep the celebrations hush-hush.
A project management consultant at one of the leading firms, Sambhav Jain has known Harshita for a long time, having met her during their IIT Delhi years. They collaborated professionally on a startup venture after which they decided to get married. The same close-knit feel continued in the wedding held at Kapurthala House, which was attended by only a select few.
On April 20, it is scheduled to have a reception, although the actual location remains under wraps, according to sources. The elder daughter of Arvind and Sunita Kejriwal, 29-year-old Harshita is an IIT Delhi alumna; she graduated with a degree in chemical engineering, with a third position. Her education was at Delhi Public School, Noida, followed by an impressive 3,322 rank in the 2014 IIT-JEE Advanced exam. Harshita had job offers from companies like Google during her course at IIT, which strongly indicates her academic and professional capability.
Kejriwal, an IIT Kharagpur alumnus, and wife Sunita have raised a family, all steeped in an academic tradition. Harshita’s brother, Pulkit, too, made the family proud by doing well in the JEE.
This low-key event fits the bill with the Kejriwal family despite the public life and love for privacy. This shared vision unites Harshita and Sambhav as a couple, instilling confidence and paving the way for a promising professional future.
