As per the MET, the disturbance will also trigger thunderstorms/rain in 13 states of northeast India and South India. The IMD has forecast hailstorms over Assam, Meghalaya and Bihar, while rain and hail are also expected to take place over Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand on April 9 and 10.

As a result, the low-pressure system will shift northwestwards in the next few hours. This, as per the IMD, will result in rains and thundershowers across most southern states, such as Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala and Mahe.

Thunderstorms and hailstorms probable over northeastern and eastern India

Besides the hot weather in the northwest, the IMD has also forecasted thunderstorms and rain along with gusty winds (40 to 50 km/h) in certain eastern and northeastern states of Assam, Meghalaya, Bihar and Jharkhand until April 11. These same regions may experience hailstorms, too.

Rain as Western Disturbance to Strike the Himalayan Region First

The IMD has also predicted heavy rain, along with thunder, in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh as a result of a fresh western disturbance that it anticipates will impact the western Himalayan region on April 8.
