New Delhi: After the widespread rains, northwest India will see an temperature increase of two to four degrees Celsius for the next four to five days, the Meteorological Department predicted. Delhi recorded a maximum temperature of 31 degrees Celsius on the first day of March, and such cities will be seeing maximums go up to 40 degrees Celsius.

Delhi’s temperature, three degrees above normal, is a clear indication of an early and severe spell of heat this season, the department said on Sunday. The high and low for Delhi on Monday are about 32 degrees Celsius and 17 degrees Celsius, respectively. Humid with 42 percent relative humidity, winds could become strong. Due to this, the air in Delhi has become much cleaner, and the lowest air quality index (AQI) recorded between 1 January and 15 March in the last three years is also 85.

The AQI spelt out excellent air quality on Sunday at 99.The Meteorological Department has issued a precautionary warning of solid winds and clouds in Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and some parts of Bihar for the next two days, with a chance of rain. This could keep conditions from getting too torrid.

The cyclonic circulation will then lead to heavy rainfall in Arunachal Pradesh, where an area of low pressure is developing over Assam.

Heavy rain is also expected over the next five days in some other northeastern states, including Manipur, Nagaland, Tripura, and Mizoram, and the region is likely to face turbulent weather and gusty winds. The country’s weather conditions vary widely.

While heavy rainfall is expected over Darjeeling, Sikkim, parts of Kerala, coastal Andhra Pradesh, and parts of the state of Gujarat, states like Odisha, Jharkhand, Telangana, and the Ganges plains of West Bengal are under heatwave alerts. Hot conditions are expected in these areas and will require planning for heat-related discomfort.
