Cow Dung And Corruption: Haryana Assembly Witnesses Fiery Debate

Chandigarh: A heated argument erupted in the Haryana Assembly between Cabinet Minister Arvind Sharma and BJP MLA Ram Kumar Gautam, stemming from the taste of the renowned jalebi from Gohana. The discussion escalated when Sharma revealed that Gautam had once consumed 10 kilogrammes of cow dung as a wager. Gautam responded by berating Sharma for taking money from his relative under the guise of making a petrol pump.

The controversy started when Gautam asked whether the jalebi from Gohana were “pure” or not, alleging that they were now made in dalda instead of ghee. Sharma then slammed Gautam, questioning his history of mischief. The exchange turned nasty with Gautam hitting back at Sharma with allegations of cheating a relative of his, who had paid Sharma Rs 10 lakh for a dairy farm but got nothing in return.

Assembly Speaker Harvinder Kalyan intervened to douse the fire, which had already gone viral on social media by then. Prior in the session, Sharma had extolled the work done by former Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and Naib Singh Saini for bringing the BJP into office for the third time in a row. He said one of Gohana’s jalebis had also become a subject of national discourse, ‘from Haryana to Maharashtra and then Delhi.’
