Mumbai: Vinod Kambli, the former cricket star of India, has been shifted to a hospital at Thane due to a serious health issue, as the doctors have reported the existence of blood clots inside his brain. His health setback is the latest in the chronic medical issues that have plagued the ex-batter over the last 10 years.
The 52-year-old cricketer’s health concerns have raised a big worry for Indian cricket fans, especially when considering his past with life-threatening medical conditions. Doctors of the Thane hospital are monitoring his condition as of now, but they are not letting out any details on the treatment he is undergoing.
Kambli’s medical logs tell a story of severe health concerns since 2012, when he had his first heart attack and was rescued by emergency angioplasty. The cricketing legend, Sachin Tendulkar, who is Kambli’s childhood friend, was allegedly the one who helped in arranging the surgery at the time.
One particularly shocking incident took place in the year 2013 when Kambli suffered from a heart attack while he was driving his way from Bandra to Chembur in Mumbai. A very smart female cop, who found him in an unconscious state inside the car, immediately took him to the Lilavati hospital, and through her quick actions, she managed to save him.
Besides his heart-related problems, Kambli has also been through various health issues. He has always been straightforward about his battle with alcohol dependency, which finally took him to a rehabilitation facility. One more time he has talked frankly about suffering from a lack of mental wellness. Much recently, he shared a shocking story in which urinary issues caused him to collapse, leaving him for a time being, standing in no position.
In a talk with local reporters, Kambli earlier this year had opened up on the struggles posed by ongoing health issues and how they have taken a toll both physically and emotionally on him. As per his words, the health issues “have a vast impact on my daily life” that my life is full of illness, full of illness. He is unexpectedly open about the torturous ways he has struggled through.
The cricketing world has been worried about Kambli’s falling health, and many former players and fans have shown their support in messages addressed to him. The left-handed batsman, who used to be the fastest one to score 1000 Test runs, continues to be an admired figure in the game, although his career was prematurely ended due to different reasons.
While Kambli is treated, the cricketing world is curiously awaiting news about his condition, wishing for good health for one of the most talented batsmen of his era in the 1990s.
