Track Your Bags Anytime, Anywhere: AirTag’s Update For Flyers Is Apple’s Game Changer

New Delhi: As we get ready for the holidays, Apple Unveils ‘Share Item Location’ Feature That Lets iPhone Users Track Luggage in Real-Time Misplaced or delayed luggage at airports is something frequent flyers are frustrated by. But now Apple has come up with a solution that may neutralise this lack of convenience for iPhone users. To help travellers keep a watchful eye on their luggage, every step of the way, Apple is partnering with big airlines introducing a real-time tracking feature using AirTags.

The ‘Share Item Location’ Feature Works the way:
This latest feature, dubbed ‘Share Item Location,’ beefs up the convenience further, as Apple’s AirTags are already proving to be popular with travellers seeking to stay on top of their luggage. The new tool will let iPhone users share where their AirTag is with others and it works with the Find My network so friends and family can find the item the AirTag is attached to.

Therefore, travellers just need to open the Find My app on their iPhone, select the item, and share the location link. When someone clicks on this link, it will open an interactive map on their dedicated website that shows exactly where the item is, in real time. When the item’s location changes, the map will automatically refresh with the current location and a timestamp indicating when that information was available.

Apple’s Collaboration with Airlines for More Secure Luggage
Apple said it will work to make this service private and secure by working closely with airlines. AirTag, however, only requires an email address to validate the owner of the AirTag, and only the link recipient can see the AirTag’s location with their Apple account. Apple has already confirmed it is partnering with 15 major airlines to cement this feature into place. Participating Airlines include Aer Lingus and Air Canada and Air New Zealand and Austrian Airlines and British Airways and Brussels Airlines and Delta Air Lines and Eurowings and Iberia and KLM Australian and Lufthansa and Qantas and Singapore Airlines and Swiss International Air Lines and Turkish Airlines and United and Virgin Atlantic and Vueling.

Availability Everywhere and Future Swings.
Most regions worldwide now have the ‘Share Item Location’ feature available, and the requested iOS 18.2 update is slated to be released soon, making the tool available to iPhone users with the click of a button. Although free for all iPhone users, when installed, the new feature will mean travellers can now track where their belongings are when they board a flight.

But with Apple’s innovative solution, air travel could become a little less stressful, because iPhone users know their bags are just a tap away now from being tracked.
