Rift In MVA? Akhilesh Yadav Blows The Whistle On Seat Sharing

Mumbai: The ruling Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance partners in Maharashtra are warming up for the assembly elections expected early next year though, battles have started within MVI over the division of the seats. The Uttar Pradesh Chief of the Samajwadi Party, Akhilesh Yadav has been dissatisfied with the existing distribution of seats; he stated that SP may opt for Independent contest if it is provided with suitable number of seats by the MVA.

Akhilesh Yadav informed that the state SP president will only take final decision for seat sharing in Maharashtra. We are striving to stay in the alliance, but if MVA sends us packing, we shall go to the voters’ centres, where we have persons or branches. We will make sure that we select places that will not jeopardise the alliance’s chances but allow me to at this stage tell you that there I no room for any compromises in politics.

The remarks come after Congress declared its candidates on three seats that SP allegedly demanded following what emerged as a major coup for the MVA alliance.

Abu Azmi expresses his anger over delayed seat-sharing – For all the bonhomie between the Congress and the Rashtriya Lok Dal in Uttar Pradesh, the two have hardly proceeded forward with the process of seat-sharing.

Earlier, Maharashtra SP President Abu Azmi expressed similar sentiments and stressed that the seat sharing should have already been done. He declared his party’s readiness to support MVA formation but scorned at the delay in one on one deliberations. What we never wanted was a split in votes; we need MVA to succeed. But, at least five seats we can guarantee victories. The condition was spelt out by Azmi who cautioned that, should these two leeway not be afforded, the proposed may only challenge 25 seats.
