Bengaluru: The Union Steel Minister and JD(S) president HD Kumaraswamy has gone on record to state that the Congress regime in Karnataka will topple before 2028. The former Chief Minister of Karnataka said that he will definitely come back to the post before the next assembly elections in Karnataka and discussed dissatisfaction within Congress as one of the major reasons for collapse of the government.
While talking to the reporters in Mandya, Kumaraswamy said, “I am not a prophet, but I can very much make this statement that this government will not complete its term till 2028.” Yes I strongly believe people of the state will give me another term to become the Chief Minister of the state once again.
Kumaraswamy, Who Spearheaded Karnataka Successful Government, Aims At Vying Third Term As CM
Kumaraswamy, who also holds the record of being Karnataka’s Chief Minister twice in 2006-2007 and 2018-2019, said that he will be back before 2020 only. “Chenliness, the chance to be Chief Minister will arise before 2028,” he emphasised, saying that he still pleads with the people of Karnataka for a full five years for him to lead them.
A JD(S) leader and son of HD Deve Gowda who was the prime minister of India one time, the family has deep roots in Karnataka politics. Kumaraswamy is a tested political strategist having managed to clinch three state assembly and three Lok Sabha polls. He was first elected to the national lower house of Parliament, Lok Sabha, in 1996 from Kanakapura.
Capture of 2024 General Election with a Landslide Victory
Kumaraswamy’s prediction has come after his brilliant performance in the recently held Grammy general elections where he registered a phenomenal victory in the Mandya Lok Sabha constituency to create record . He was able to edge past the Congress candidate Venkataraman Gowda by a small margin of 284,620 votes and polled as many as 851,881 votes.
Internal issues still haunt the Congress party while the comments made by Kumaraswamy indicate that the stability of the current government in Karnataka is gradually coming into question. Whether his forecast comes to pass is yet to be seen; but the fact that the JD(S) leader is all geared up to reclaim his reign over the politics of Karnataka cannot be effectively doubted.
