IMD Raises Alerts For Rain In Mumbai, Tamil Nadu & Odisha As Weather Turns ‘Change’

New Delhi: As winter started to knock at the northern states of India, different areas of the country still have been experiencing continuous rainfall as a result of an ever–changing climate. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has blamed the deviation to cyclonic circulation formation over the east-central Arabian Sea as the winds shifted bringing about untimely rainfall.

The city that was feeling the heat over the last three days received heavy showers today. The IMD has imposed a yellow alert for Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, and South Konkan with more rainfall expected. The local IMD area forecast is the city is to have continuing thunder showers-patchy rain till Tuesday morning of October 22, 2024 with the likelihood of strong winds in and around the location.

The IMD added that the current rainfall is due to easterly winds and westerly wind systems interacting with each other. Cyclonic conditions likely to prevail over the East Central Arabian sea and Coast – More rains are on the anvil for northern coastal Andhra Pradesh with isolated heavy falls from October 24 to October 26.

Tamil Nadu and Odisha to face heavy rains in coming days

Even for Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, the IMD has given a yellow alert calling for heavy rainfall in one or two places on October 21. Likewise, Odisha is expecting heavy rain, a yellow warning has been issued for October 23-25, 2024.

While cyclonic weather has not stopped affecting conditions in the southern and western regions of Pakistan, the northern provinces are heading into winter season. Out of the four states, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Bihar indicate a cool change with people experiencing cool weather in the mornings and during the evening to the night. While no precipitation prediction has been sounded for Uttar Pradesh, the climate has changed and night are now cool, days are surprisingly sunny.

Increased Pollution Levels for Delhi

However, with the season changing now, and the cold weather slowly starting to envelop the city of Delhi, air pollution has emerged as a major issue. With change of weather, one can witness the definite increase in pollution and the professionals rushes to add that it will only get worse. As of now, the situation has not improved up to now and there are no signs of its improvement in the near future, compounding problems citizens have in the upcoming winter.

As the weather changes across the country the IMD continues to keep the conditions and recommend to the people in the areas where there is rain and wind to be cautious.
