Remo D’Souza And Wife Among Seven Accused In Multi-Crore Fraud Case

Thane: Choreographer Remo D’Souza, his wife Lizelle D’Souza, five others including a police officer have been booked for allegedly cheating a danace group of ₹11.96 crore. The FIR was lodged at Mira Road police station in Thane district of Maharashtra on October 16 while further details in the case were given by police on October 19.

It was made by a 26-year-old dancer known he had never received the promised $1 million, $3 million, $5 million, and $8 million from Remo and his associates from 2018 to 2024. The FIR states that the dancer along with his group performed in a television dance reality show and emerged as winners, but the accused in the case misappropriated the amount earned by the group which was nearly ₹ 12 crore.

Others Named in the FIR
The other five people were accused of the crime are, Remo and his wife; Omprakash Shankar Chauhan, a policeman; Rohit Jadhav; Vinod Raut; and Ramesha Gupta. According to the complainant, the accused represented that the group that performed and emerged as the winner in the television show was his own, and when the cash prize was given, the money was embezzled by the accused.

Yet Another Controversy for Remo D’Souza
This is not the first time on which name of Remo D’Souza comes in the link of fraudulence. About eight years back, he was charged for a cheater case regarding ₹5 crores from one Srikanth alleging that the money was given for a movie making project on the assurance that the ₹10 crores would be returned, but never came to fruition. That particular case came up for hearing in the Allahabad High Court in August 2024 and Remo’s application for relief was refused.

Investigation Underway
