Athawale Slams Kharge For ‘Terrorist Party’ Remark, Urges Congress To Focus On Development

Mumbai: Union Minister Ramdas Athawale has hit back at Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge’s recent comments, in which Kharge referred to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) as a “terrorist party.” Athawale expressed his displeasure with the remarks and urged the Congress to focus on supporting development rather than levelling baseless allegations.

Athawale responded by stating, “Mallikarjun Kharge often makes such accusations. He said that if they had won 20 more seats, all BJP leaders would be in jail. But even after Narendra Modi’s government returned to power in 2024, neither Rahul Gandhi, Kharge, nor Sonia Gandhi are in jail.”

‘Congress Should Support Development, Not Hurl Accusations’

Athawale emphasised that Congress should support a government focused on development rather than constantly trying to undermine it. He added, “The Congress is just in the business of making accusations. Instead, the party should play a role in supporting the government, which is working for development. But they seem more focused on stopping progress.”

‘Congress is Left with Nothing’

The minister praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi, remarking that the PM’s leadership is propelling the nation forward despite opposition efforts. “PM Modi’s chariot is moving swiftly. While the opposition tried to stop it in the previous election, the people have given Modi and NDA their trust once again. I believe Congress is frustrated because it feels powerless after losing its grip on the country,” Athawale said.

He also criticised Congress for repeatedly attempting to tarnish Modi’s image, asserting, “Congress has always tried to malign Modi, but their efforts will not succeed.”

Kharge’s Controversial Remark

Earlier, Mallikarjun Kharge, while responding to the BJP labelling Congress as “urban Naxals,” called the BJP a “terrorist party.” He accused the ruling party of violence against tribal and Dalit communities while dismissing intellectuals as urban Naxals.
