Manmohan Singh Remembers Ratan Tata As A Visionary Leader And Humanitarian

New Delhi: Former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh expressed profound sorrow on Thursday over the passing of renowned industrialist Ratan Tata. In a heartfelt letter to N. Chandrasekaran, Chairman of Tata Sons, Singh acknowledged Tata’s status as a giant in the Indian business landscape and shared fond memories of their collaborative efforts.

In his letter, Dr. Singh wrote, “He was more than a business icon; his vision and humanity were evident in the numerous charitable initiatives he established and nurtured throughout his life.” Singh highlighted Tata’s courage to speak truth to power, underscoring the deep respect he held for the late industrialist.

“I have cherished memories of working alongside him on various occasions,” Dr. Singh added. “On this sad occasion, I extend my heartfelt condolences and pray for his soul to find peace.”

The nation has been enveloped in mourning following Ratan Tata’s demise, which has prompted tributes from various sectors, including prominent business leaders and political figures. Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid homage to the Padma Vibhushan awardee, calling him “a visionary business leader, a kind soul, and an extraordinary human being.” Modi commended Tata’s stable leadership within one of India’s oldest and most respected corporate groups while also acknowledging his contributions beyond the corporate realm.

“Tata’s humility, generosity, and unwavering dedication to improving society endeared him to countless people,” Modi stated. Current Chairman of Tata Group, Natarajan Chandrasekaran, referred to Tata as his “friend, mentor, and guide.”

Ratan Tata, the Emeritus Chairman of Tata Group, passed away late on the night of 9th October at the age of 86 at a hospital in Mumbai. Following his death, his body was taken to the National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA) in Mumbai, where countless individuals, industry leaders, state officials, and celebrities queued to pay their last respects.

As the nation grieves the loss of Ratan Tata, his legacy as a compassionate leader and dedicated philanthropist continues to inspire many.
