Mumbai: Bollywood actor and Shiv Sena leader Govinda accidentally shot himself in the leg on October 1 while cleaning his licensed revolver at home. The incident, which took place early in the morning at around 4.45 am, left the actor with a minor injury, and he was rushed to the hospital. Fortunately, doctors have assured his family and fans that he is stable and expected to be discharged within the next two to three days.
Govinda’s wife, Sunita Ahuja, and daughter, Tina Ahuja, have shared updates on his condition, stating that while the actor will need three to four weeks of bed rest, he is doing well. Sunita, who was away on a pilgrimage to visit Baba Khatushyam at the time of the accident, returned immediately upon receiving the news. She expressed her gratitude to fans for their support and assured everyone that Govinda would be back to dancing within a month.
According to reports, Govinda was preparing to leave for an event in Kolkata and was cleaning his revolver when the firearm accidentally discharged. The bullet struck his leg, but the injury was quickly treated, and the bullet was removed later that day. Govinda’s daughter, Tina, was one of the first to arrive at the hospital to be by his side.
Mumbai Police have begun an inquiry into the incident and have already recorded a statement from Govinda’s daughter, Tina Ahuja. However, they are yet to obtain an official statement from the actor himself, which is expected to take place once he feels better. Govinda also contacted the police on Tuesday evening to inform them about the accident.
While the police investigation is ongoing, Govinda’s family has reassured fans that the actor’s recovery is on track. Sunita Ahuja thanked well-wishers and said that Govinda is expected to return home soon.
