Chandigarh: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today invigorated BJP workers in Haryana through the ‘Mera Booth, Sabse Strongest’ campaign, utilising the NaMo App to connect directly with supporters. As assembly elections approach, Modi also directed pointed criticism at the Congress party, asserting their failure over the past decade.
During his address, Modi highlighted that Congress has not succeeded even as an opposition party in Haryana, stating, “In the last ten years, there have been no allegations of corruption against the BJP government. Yet, the Congress rests on lies, with its leaders speaking without coherence.”
The Prime Minister’s remarks come amid rising speculation about internal discord within the Congress party, particularly concerning the alleged dissatisfaction of Congress leader Kumari Selja. Political analysts have noted that while Congress appeared to have a stronger position than in the last elections, factionalism seems to be causing a decline in their standing. Modi’s reference to “loudspeakers” is perceived as a veiled jab at these political experts.
Engaging with BJP workers, Modi remarked on Congress’s preoccupation with internal strife. “How can the people of Haryana trust a party that has ignored public issues for the last ten years, working only for its own family and faction?” he questioned.
Additionally, Modi raised concerns about social issues affecting Dalits and farmers under Congress rule. He noted that during their tenure, Dalits faced numerous atrocities and that farmers received negligible compensation for crop losses—citing instances where cheques of just two rupees were issued.
The Prime Minister also took aim at the economic situation in neighbouring Himachal Pradesh, which is governed by Congress. He stated that the Himachal government is currently unable to pay its employees and is stalling development work and recruitments.
“The people of Haryana are intelligent; they know whom to trust with their votes,” Modi concluded, reinforcing his message to the BJP supporters to remain steadfast as they head into the election season.
