Modi Monitors: PM Pledges Help for Heartbroken Wayanad

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a crucial review meeting regarding the recent landslide in Wayanad, Kerala, and assessed the ongoing relief efforts aimed at aiding the affected families. The devastating landslide has shattered the lives and dreams of hundreds of families, as nature unleashed its fury on the region.

During the meeting, PM Modi shared his personal experience, stating, “The dreams of hundreds of families have been ruined in the disaster. Nature has shown its ugly form, which I have seen firsthand by visiting the affected area.” He added that he had met with the victims’ families, listened to their stories of suffering, and visited the injured in the hospital to offer his support.

In the immediate aftermath of the landslide, PM Modi reached out to Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, mobilizing federal assistance for the disaster-stricken region. He commended the swift and tireless response from relief teams, noting, “Everyone had reached out to help in the disaster without stopping. The Indian government and the entire country are with the victims.”

The Prime Minister emphasized his ongoing engagement with the situation, stating, “I have been in constant touch with the South. I have been receiving updates from moment to moment after the incident.” He praised the collective efforts in responding to the crisis, highlighting the positive impact of working together in such challenging times.

PM Modi assured the victims and their families of the government’s unwavering support, promising additional financial aid beyond what has already been provided under policy regulations. “The Indian government will stand with the Kerala government to solve all the problems very generously,” he affirmed.

The Prime Minister also announced plans for a long-term support strategy, particularly for young children and those who have lost loved ones in the tragedy. Drawing from his experience as a volunteer during the 1979 Morbi dam disaster in Gujarat, which claimed the lives of over 2,500 people, PM Modi expressed deep empathy for those affected by the Wayanad landslide.

“The central government will leave no stone unturned,” he vowed, reiterating his commitment to providing comprehensive assistance to the victims and ensuring a robust response to the disaster.

As Kerala continues to grapple with the aftermath of the landslide, PM Modi’s review meeting underscores the government’s resolve to stand by the affected communities and work towards their recovery and rehabilitation.
