New Delhi: In a strategic move to bolster its defence capabilities against potential threats from Pakistan and China, India is taking significant steps to enhance its military preparedness. The Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) has approved several key capital acquisition proposals aimed at strengthening the Indian Army and the Indian Coast Guard.
In response to the evolving security landscape and the increasing needs of the armed forces, the DAC has sanctioned the procurement of Advanced Land Navigation Systems for the Indian Army’s Armoured Fighting Vehicles (AFVs). This advanced technology will enable the army to conduct operations seamlessly, regardless of time and visibility conditions, including during the night. AFVs are crucial in warfare due to their firepower, agility, and protective capabilities. The integration of these navigation systems will enhance their operational effectiveness in both day and night scenarios.
The decision underscores the importance of maintaining a technologically advanced and versatile military force, capable of responding to diverse threats. Armoured Fighting Vehicles, equipped with state-of-the-art navigation systems, will provide the Indian Army with enhanced precision and operational flexibility on the battlefield.
In addition to upgrading the army’s land capabilities, the government has also approved the acquisition of 22 interceptor boats. These boats are intended for multifaceted roles, including surveillance, medical assistance, research, and rescue operations. The procurement will be conducted under the Indian-Indigenously Designed, Developed, and Manufactured (IDDM) category, ensuring that the equipment is sourced domestically. India Electronics Limited has been selected for the supply of these boats, reflecting the government’s commitment to promoting indigenous defence manufacturing.
This comprehensive enhancement of India’s defence apparatus is part of a broader strategy to strengthen the nation’s military infrastructure and capabilities.
