Train Derailment in Jharkhand’s Chakradharpur: Six Injured, Relief Operations Underway

Ranchi: In a shocking incident early Tuesday morning, train number 12810 Howrah-CSMT Express derailed near Chakradharpur, resulting in injuries to six passengers. The accident occurred around 4:00 AM between the Rajkharswan West Outer and Barabambu stations, according to railway authorities.

The locomotive involved, numbered 37077, and five coaches of the train went off the tracks. The derailed coaches subsequently collided with a stationary goods train on an adjacent track. The impact of the collision left several coaches mangled, causing a scene of chaos and concern.

Railway medical teams were swift to respond, initiating relief and rescue operations immediately. The Accident Relief Medical Equipment (ARME) team, along with the Additional Divisional Railway Manager (ADRM) of Chakradharpur, arrived on the scene to assist. First aid was administered to the injured by the Indian Railways medical team, and all six individuals were promptly transported to Chakradhar Railway Hospital for further treatment.

While the extent of the injuries remains under assessment, it has been confirmed that there were no fatalities. The situation could have been much worse, but fortunately, no passengers sustained life-threatening injuries.

Photographs from the accident site reveal the severity of the incident, with significant damage to the derailed coaches. However, the exact cause of the derailment has yet to be determined, and an investigation is underway.

In a measure to expedite medical assistance, the injured were airlifted by air ambulance to nearby hospitals, ensuring they receive the necessary care.
