Ellington: The quiet village of Ellington in the Lynx area of Grantham has come alive as thousands of people gather for Britain’s largest four-day sex and fetish festival, Swingathon. This annual event, drawing swingers from across the UK, promises a bigger, bolder, and more extravagant experience this year.
Swingathon, known for its unique activities such as play tents, hot tubs, and massages, has doubled its attendance from last year. Approximately 1,000 participants, up from 500, have paid £265 (Rs 28,663) per ticket to join the festivities. Organisers have introduced new features, including a sensual celebration event called Fatefest, aimed at attracting fetish enthusiasts. Participants can enjoy a variety of activities, including a foam party, bingo, a mobile dungeon, and a whip-throwing area.
Villagers have expressed concerns over the noise, with sounds of screaming and moaning disrupting their nights. Despite these protests, the event continues to grow, with organisers emphasising the importance of introducing people from different lifestyles to new social experiences.
Kerry Wollner, the event’s organiser, highlighted the festival’s diverse offerings, which include performances by DJs, dancers, comedians, fire-spewers, pole dancers, and acrobats. Erotic massages, naked attraction-style contests, drag, and burlesque acts are also part of the lineup. Wollner emphasised the event’s goal of providing social security and a sense of community for participants.
This year’s Swingathon features a dedicated space for the LGBT community, with numerous workshops planned for swingers. Last year, the South Kesthaven District Council Licensing Committee initially objected to the event, citing concerns about juvenile crime and public obscenity. However, the event was ultimately given the green light.
Co-organiser Matthew Cole expressed optimism about this year’s festival, noting strong ticket sales and support from both the public and local administration. “This year’s programme will be better than before,” Cole said, reflecting the enthusiasm surrounding the event.
Swingathon 2024 is set to be the largest youth fest in the UK, providing a platform for people of various lifestyles to connect and celebrate in a safe and welcoming environment. As the festival unfolds, Ellington will continue to buzz with the energy and excitement of this unique gathering.
