Global IT Disruptions Linked to CrowdStrike Update, Microsoft Responds

NewDelhi: A recent update from cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike has caused widespread disruptions in IT systems around the globe. The issue, which started affecting systems yesterday, has prompted immediate responses from major technology companies, including Microsoft.

In a statement on social media platform X, Microsoft Chairman and CEO Satya Nadella acknowledged the issue, saying, “We are aware of the issue and are working closely with CrowdStrike and the entire industry to provide technical guidance and support for customers to get their systems back online safely.”

Microsoft has since implemented mitigation measures. “We’ve completed our mitigation action and our telemetry shows that all previously affected Microsoft 365 apps and services are fixed. We are entering a period of monitoring to ensure that the impact is fully resolved,” Nadella added.

The IT ministry has confirmed Microsoft’s active involvement with the affected entities, stating that many systems are now partially operational. “Microsoft is actively working with the affected entities, with many systems partially operational,” the ministry reported.

In India, the Reserve Bank has reassured the public regarding the stability of the financial sector amid the global outage. “Overall, the Indian financial sector in the Reserve Bank’s domain is insulated from global outages. Indian banks are safe. There was only minor trouble,” the IT ministry assured.

As the situation develops, Microsoft and other industry leaders remain vigilant in their efforts to fully resolve the disruptions and support their customers.
