New Delhi: In a commanding display, Team India secured another victory against Zimbabwe in the ongoing T20 series in Harare. Batting first, India posted a formidable total of 182 runs in their allotted 20 overs. Zimbabwe put up a spirited fight but fell short of the target, ensuring India’s victory and a 2-1 lead in the series.
Captain Shubman Gill and off-spinner Washington Sundar emerged as pivotal figures in India’s triumph. Sundar’s exceptional bowling, taking 3 wickets for just 15 runs in 4 overs, proved decisive. Ruturaj Gaikwad also made a significant contribution with a brisk 49 off 28 balls.
Despite Zimbabwe’s resilient effort, particularly from Dion Mayers who remained unbeaten on 65 off 49 balls, their chase faltered as they managed to score 143 runs in reply.
India’s strategy adjustments, including changes in the opening partnership and playing XI, paid off. Yashasvi Jaiswal partnered effectively with Captain Gill at the top, laying a foundation with a 67-run stand. Gill and Gaikwad continued to build on this momentum, steering India towards a competitive total.
The next match of the T20 series is scheduled for Saturday, promising further excitement and challenges for both teams in Harare.
