Terrorists Attack Army Convoy in Jammu and Kashmir; Three Soldiers Martyr

Rajouri: Terrorists once again carried out an attack on an Army convoy in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district on Thursday, resulting in the tragic loss of three soldiers and injuries to three others. The incident occurred in the Rajouri sector of the district, a region that has witnessed a resurgence of terrorist activities in recent months.

According to reports, the terrorists ambushed an Army truck as it was passing through the Dera Ki Goli (DKG) forest area of Surankote. The militants opened fire on the convoy, triggering a fierce gunfight between the security forces and the attackers.

The Indian Army responded swiftly, deploying additional forces to the area and launching a cordon and search operation. The operation is currently ongoing, and intense firing is taking place between the security forces and the terrorists.

The attack marks the second such incident in the area within a month. Last month, two Army captains and several soldiers were Martyr during an anti-terror operation in Kalakote, Rajouri. The Thanamandi area, where the latest attack occurred, has become a haven for terrorists in recent years.

Over the past few years, there have been a number of significant terrorist attacks in the Rajouri-Poonch region. Between 2003 and 2021, the area experienced a period of relative peace, but frequent encounters have been reported since then. In the last two years alone, more than 35 soldiers have lost their lives in anti-terror operations in the region.

The incident once more emphasizes the ongoing threat that terrorism poses in Jammu and Kashmir and the relentless efforts of the security forces to combat it. The Indian Army and the police are working tirelessly to neutralise the terrorist threat and ensure the safety of civilians in the region.
