Patna: Prominent YouTuber Manish Kashyap has obtained a significant victory with his recent bail grant by the Patna High Court, paving the way for his imminent release from Beur jail. The legal team representing Kashyap confirmed this development.
Kashyap’s arrest in March this year stemmed from allegations related to a fabricated video depicting migrant laborers from Bihar. He faced charges in two separate cases, but through successful legal proceedings, he has secured bail in both matters.
Authorities had attempted to summon Kashyap for questioning numerous times due to his involvement in the case, but he initially failed to appear before the police. Eventually, he presented himself voluntarily at the Jagdishpur police station in Bettiah, his hometown.
During a press conference, Kashyap addressed the events, emphasizing the importance of press freedom while criticizing Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav. He asserted his fearlessness and determination to continue fighting for his cause, questioning why being the son of a fodder thief should make a difference.
Manish Kashyap holds a prominent position in Bihar, not only as a popular YouTuber but also as a politician. He contested the Bihar Assembly elections in 2020 but was unsuccessful in securing a seat. Despite this setback, he filed his nomination as an independent candidate from the Chanpatia assembly constituency.
Kashyap’s release from custody will come as a relief to his supporters and those advocating for freedom of expression. His case highlights the importance of judicial oversight and the right to dissent in a democratic society.
