Chaos in Lok Sabha: Suspension of Kerala MPs Widens Political Rift, Protests Continue

New Delhi: In a heated political atmosphere, two more opposition MPs, Thomas Chazikadan and A.M. Arif from Kerala, were suspended from the Lok Sabha on Wednesday for the remainder of the winter session. The suspension brought the total number of suspended opposition MPs to 143, marking a significant escalation of tensions in Parliament.

The suspended MPs, belonging to the Kerala Congress (M) and the CPM, were accused of “showing placards and entering the well of the House,” a breach of Parliamentary conduct. The suspension followed repeated warnings and attempts to maintain order in the House.

Opposition parties expressed outrage over the suspensions, alleging that the government was suppressing their voices and stifling dissent. They staged protests outside Parliament, calling it a “murder of democracy.” The Congress leader, Mallikarjun Kharge, vowed that the demonstrations would continue until the suspensions were revoked.

Meanwhile, the government maintained that the suspensions were necessary to uphold order and decorum in Parliament. They accused the opposition of disregarding the directives of the chairman and disrupting the functioning of both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha.

In a separate development, NDA MPs held a protest outside Parliament to condemn the alleged mimicry of Rajya Sabha Chairman and Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar during the Question Hour. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi denounced the incident, stating that it crossed all limits of respect for constitutional positions.

The ongoing suspensions and protests have cast a shadow over the final days of the winter session, raising questions about the ability of Parliament to function effectively and address pressing issues. As the session draws to a close, political tensions and divisions continue to dominate the headlines.
