Prime Minister Hails Chandrayaan-3 Success, Urges India to Achieve Technological Independence

New Delhi: During the closing ceremony of the Smart India Hackathon 2023, Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the remarkable achievement of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) with the successful landing of Chandrayaan-3. He emphasises that this mission not only marks a significant milestone in India’s space exploration endeavours but also elevates the world’s perception of India’s capabilities.

“The success of Chandrayaan-3 is a testament to the extraordinary talent and dedication of our scientists and engineers,” said PM Modi. “This triumph has transformed the world’s view of India, instilling a strong belief that we are capable of achieving anything we set our minds to.”

PM Modi underscored the importance of technology in contemporary society, highlighting its integral role in various aspects of life. He urged India to strive for self-sufficiency in technology, emphasising the need to move beyond importing technology or relying on others.

“India possesses the world’s largest pool of talent,” stated PM Modi. “We have the potential to provide the world with low-cost, high-quality, sustainable, and comprehensive solutions to address global challenges. This should be our goal.”

The Prime Minister emphasised that India is at a critical juncture where every effort contributes to strengthening the foundation for the next thousand years. He expressed his admiration for the young innovators participating in the Smart India Hackathon, acknowledging their hard work and dedication.

During an engaging interaction, PM Modi engaged with several groups of innovators, inquiring about their projects. A team from Gujarat presented their project aimed at assisting ISRO in converting medium-resolution images from Chandrayaan-3 into super-resolution images using image processing and AI technology. This project aims to create thousands of maps that will aid in identifying safe landing sites and craters on the moon.

A group from Karnataka showcased their research focused on railway cargoes, while a team from Orissa demonstrated their AI-based model for assessing the mental health of children.

PM Modi concluded his address by reiterating the government’s commitment to fostering innovation and entrepreneurship among the youth. He encouraged the young innovators to continue pushing boundaries and developing solutions that will shape the future of India.
