New Delhi: Veteran actor Junior Mehmood is battling stage four cancer. The 67-year-old actor was diagnosed with the disease in November and is currently undergoing treatment.
Jr Mehmood’s close friend Salam Kazi told ANI, “He was ill for 2 months and initially we thought that he might have some minor problem but after that suddenly his weight started decreasing. And when the medical reports came, it said there was cancer in the liver and lungs and a tumour in the intestine and he has also developed jaundice. So the treatment is going on, but the doctors said it’s a stage four cancer.”
The actor is most popular for his roles in films like Kati Patang, Brahmachari, Mera Naam Joker, and Parvarish.
Following the news of his cancer diagnosis, Johny Lever went to see the veteran star and a video of the same has surfaced online. In the video, Mehmood is seen lying in bed, and Johnny holds his hand while they both smile for the camera.
Kazi has told The Times of India that Jr. Mehmood only has 40 days, as informed by the doctors. He also clarified that the actor doesn’t need any financial help, still, Johny offered to help.
Jr Mehmood has acted in over 200 films in different languages. He had previously mentioned that he began his career as a junior artist because he didn’t have an inclination for studies. His breakthrough came when he got the opportunity to portray Mehmood Sahab’s brother-in-law in Ratan Bhattacharya’s film Suhagrat.
