Hyderabad: The counting of votes is underway for the Telangana Assembly elections, and initial trends suggest a Congress victory. In the trends of all 119 seats, Congress is leading by 65 seats, while BRS is leading by 46 seats. The BJP is leading by only 2 seats, while independent candidates are leading by 6 seats.
Despite the initial trends, BRS leader Vishnu Reddy remains confident of the party’s victory. “Before the elections, we said that BRS was winning 88+ seats. We still believe that we are coming to power again,” Reddy said.
The position has changed significantly for BRS since the initial trends were released. Congress is now leading by 65 seats, while BRS has fallen to 46 seats. The BJP’s lead has also shrunk to just 2 seats, while independent candidates have gained ground with 6 seats.
Telangana CM K. Chandrashekhar Rao is facing a tough re-election battle, as he is trailing in both the seats he is contesting from: Gajwel and Kamareddy.
The final results of the elections are expected to be announced later today.
