Mumbai: Bhushan Kumar can breathe a sigh of relief as he has been relieved of rape charges.
The Andheri Magistrate court here accepted the ‘B summary report’ filed by Mumbai police in which they were seeking closure of the FIR registered against the T-Series owner him for rape and cheating.
A ‘B summary’ report is filed when police classify a case as maliciously false or when there is no evidence or prima facie case against the accused after investigation.
An FIR was registered against Bhushan by DN Nagar police in July 2021 under provisions of Indian Penal Code (IPC).
The complaint against Bhushan, son of music baron, late Gulshan Kumar, was that he allegedly raped a woman under the pretext of providing her a job on some project in his company.
Police first filed ‘B summary’ report in 2022, which was rejected by Andheri Magistrate court on grounds of the complainant’s conduct.
The victim later said she had made the allegations against Bhushan due to “circumstantial misunderstanding,” and was withdrawing those.
She also provided her no-objection to the approval of the B summary report.
The Magistrate then said that the victim had set the criminal law into motion and after some time had no grievances for acceptance of the final report.
“Her conduct furnishes an assurance that she has misused the provisions of law that are meant for needy litigants. For her personal gain and advantages, she has crossed every limit which all women have been following for decades,” the court noted and directed police to investigate further.
The police filed another ‘B summary’ report, which has now been accepted by the court.
