Bhubaneswar: Odia film ‘DAMaN’ is set to lock horns with Shah Rukh Khan-starrer ‘Pathaan’ with a limited Pan-India release of its Hindi-dubbed version on Friday.
The film, which gives impetus to Odisha’s malaria elimination drive, was released on November 4 last year and even declared tax-free in the state. The Hindi trailer of the film starring Babushaan Mohanty and Dipanwit Dashmohapatra in lead roles was unveiled by actor and filmmaker Ajay Devgn last month.
Advance booking for the film opened on February 1.
According to Bollywood Crazies, ‘DAMaN’ Hindi currently has around 8 screens in Mumbai, with an average ticket price of around Rs. 200. It has so far got around 13 shows on 12 screens in Delhi. Similarly, eight screens in Bengaluru, where the Odia version saw a packed house, 4 in Hyderabad, 2 screens in Ahmedabad, 4 screens in Lucknow and as many in Indore and Surat and one screen in Chennai. There will be seven shows on 5 screens in Pune.

Written and directed by Vishal Mourya and Debi Prasad Lenka, ”DAMaN’ traces the journey of a young doctor posted in a remote tribal area of Malkangiri, spearheading a drive to eradicate malaria in the 151 villages in Janbai PHC.
‘DaMan’ created a buzz and climbed to 9.7 on IMDB rating, the highest for any Odia film on the platform so far, after being released in 51 cinema halls in Odisha. It was also shown in 15 theatres in six cities, including Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Raipur, and Ahmedabad with a good number of Odia population for a week. All the shows within the state and outside saw a packed house.
