New Delhi: Next week’s all-India bank strike is not happening.
The strike, which was called by the United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) on January 30 and 31, has been deferred.
All India Bank Employees’ Association (AIBEA) general secretary C H Venkatachalam said the decision to put off the strike followed an understanding at the conciliation meeting held in Mumbai.
The Indian Banks’ Association (IBA) has agreed to hold a meeting with the unions on January 31, when some of the major contentious issues – five-day banking, updation of pension and restoration of old pension scheme — will be discussed.
Other residual issues — including scrapping of National Pension System (NPS), immediate starting of negotiation on charter of demands for wage revision and adequate recruitment in all cadres — will be negotiated between officers and workmen unions separately.
