Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, who reached New Delhi on Saturday on a four-day visit, will meet President-Elect Droupadi Murmu along with all the BJD MPs at 5.30 pm on Sunday.
Naveen will also be attending the swearing-in ceremony of Murmu to take place at 10.15 am on Monday in the central hall of Parliament.
According to the Home Ministry, Chief Justice of India N V Ramana will administer the oath of the office of the President to her. This will be followed by a 21-gun salute. The President will then deliver an address.
Earlier, Naveen had earlier congratulated Murmu on being elected the 15th President of India and said that all 4.5 crore people of Odisha are proud of her achievement. While supporting her candidature, the BJD has also campaigned for her and urged all MLAs of the state to vote for her.
Murmu, 64, scripted history on Thursday after defeating Opposition Presidential candidate Yashwant Sinha by an overwhelming margin. She got 6,76,803 votes against Sinha’s 3,80,177.
A native of Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district, she is India’s first tribal President and also first to be born after independence and the youngest to occupy the top constitutional post. She is also the second woman and Odisha-born to become the President.
