Ahead Of Assembly Polls, Owaisi’s Car Fired At In UP; AIMIM Chief Claims Conspiracy

Meerut: AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi claimed on Thursday said that 3-4 rounds of bullets were fired at car when he was heading to Delhi after campaigning in Meerut and Kithaur, in Uttar Pradesh.

Assembly elections in UP will be held in seven phases, starting next week. AIMIM is contesting in 100 constituencies.

The Hyderabad MP said that two people fired three or four rounds at his vehicle near Chhajarsi toll plaza, puncturing the tyres.

“It’s a well-planned conspiracy, they knew which route I’ll be taking,” Owaisi told TV news channels, demanding an inquiry by the Election Commission of India.

“I also want the state government and Narendra Modi government to find out who masterminded this conspiracy against me,” Owaisi told mediapersons.

Owaisi also put out a tweet in Hindi, along with a picture of a car with bullet-sized holes.

“There were 3-4 people who ran away leaving their weapons… The tyres of my vehicle got punctured but I left in another vehicle. We are all well thanks to the Almighty,” Owaisi wrote.

ADG Prashant Kumar said Hapur Police is investigating the matter. CCTVs of nearby areas are being scanned and statements of eyewitnesses are being recorded.
