2.58 Lakh Fresh COVID Cases Reported In India; Positivity Rate Up To 19.65%

New Delhi: The COVID-19 curve in India showed marginal improvement after the country reported 2.58 lakh new cases on Monday. The number is around 5 per cent lower than Sunday.

A total of 385 people have died of the infection during the past 24-hour period, the Health Ministry said.

The total caseload of the country now stands at 3.73 crore, which includes 8,209 Omicron cases that have been found in 29 states.

The active COVID-19 cases now comprise 4.43 per cent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate has dropped to 94.27 per cent. The daily positivity rate has risen from 16.28 per cent to 19.65 per cent while the weekly positivity rate stood at 14.41 per cent.

One of the worst-hit states, Maharashtra recorded 41,327 new COVID-19 infections, 1,135 less than the day before, and 29 fatalities. The state’s overall caseload now stands at 72,11,810 and the toll at 1,41,808. Maharashtra reported 8 new Omicron cases, taking the Omicron tally to 1,738.

Delhi reported 18,286 COVID-19 cases and 28 deaths on Sunday. The positivity rate dropped to 27.87 per cent from 30.64 per cent a day ago in the national capital, the health department data said.
