Mumbai: Mumbai Police has not found any evidence of extortion in the high-profile drugs-on-cruise case in which Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan was arrested.
“Investigation of alleged extortion matter in connection with drugs on cruise case halted until next order. Mumbai Police had constituted SET (Special Enquiry Team) to investigate and had questioned around 20 people. No case registered so far as no evidence found yet,” ANI quoted a Mumbai Police report as stating.
Shah Rukh’s son Aryan was among those arrested following a Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) raid on a rave party aboard a Goa-bound cruise ship on October 3. After spending a week in NCB custody and 19 days at Byculla jail, Aryan was granted bail.
A special team had been formed to probe the extortion angle after NCB’s witness Prabhakar Sail said he had overheard a phone conversation about a demand of Rs 25 crore from Shah Rukh.
NCB also formed a team to investigate extortion allegations against NCB Mumbai’s chief Sameer Wankhede, who was heading the drugs case before it was transferred to the Delhi team.
Aryan has been relieved from making weekly attendance at the NCB Mumbai office every Friday in connection with the case.
