New Delhi: Delhi reported its second case of Omicron as a traveller, who returned from Zimbabwe, tested positive for this highly-mutated variant of COVID-19 on Saturday.
The 34-year-old man has been admitted to LNJP Hospital designated for the treatment of patients infected with Omicron.
A resident of Ranchi, he had travelled from Tanzania to Doha and from there to Delhi on a Qatar Airways flight on December 2. He stayed in Johannesburg, South Africa, for a week, The Quint reported.
He has mild symptoms and is suffering only from weakness.
The earlier Omicrom case was a 37-year-old man, who landed in Delhi from Tanzania.
With this, the total number of people infected by the variant has gone up to 33. While 17 of them are in Maharashtra, nine in Rajasthan, three in Gujarat, two each in Karnataka and Delhi.
Mumbai has banned large gatherings for two days with seven news cases, including a 3-year-old, being confirmed on Friday.
