Rumour Mills Abuzz: KV Kamath To Replace Nirmala Sitharaman As India’s FM

New Delhi: If rumour mills are to be believed, KV Kamath may be named as India’s Finance Minister, replacing Nirmala Sitharaman.

The 72-year-old Kamath, who was appointed chairman of BRICS bank in 2015, held the post till he demitted office earlier this week and was replaced by Brazilian Marcos Prado Troyjo.

It was learnt that Kamath had a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently.

Kamath, an eminent banker, served as chairman of Infosys before taking up the BRICS job. He played a key role in consolidating the New Development Bank of BRICS countries, literally setting it up from scratch using his wealth of experience gained from working in banking institutions in India.

If Modi does bring in Kamath at a time when the Indian economy needs to be revived following the Covid-19 setback, it could serve as a huge positive for the Stock market and banks in India.
