Gajapati: A school student was killed and nine were critically injured in a road accident at G Udaygiri in Gajapati district on Saturday morning.
The mishap occurred when a tractor collided head on with an auto-rickshaw ferrying the 10 students from Ranalai village to their school at Ramchandrapur.
Sources said one of the students, Lubun Karada, was killed on the spot. The other nine students were admitted to Chandragiri hospital.
Following the accident, locals staged a road blockade in the area to demand compensation for the family of the deceased. Vehicular movement between Mohana and R Udaygiri was disrupted due to the blockade.
Later, police reached the spot and pacified the agitators.
