5 New Ministers In Mamata’s Cabinet Soon; WB Gets 7 New Districts

New Delhi: Amid the Partha Chatterjee cash-for-jobs scam, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee has decided to reshuffle her cabinet and bring in five new faces.

“We shall reshuffle our ministry, but not completely change it as some media reports are claiming,” she was quoted as saying.

“Partha is in jail; Subrato Mukherjee and Sadhan Pandey have passed away. There are vacant posts that need to be filled up,” Mamata Banerjee said on Monday.

Sources said five new faces will be brought into the cabinet. The reshuffle is likely to be declared on Wednesday. Four current ministers will be removed and their services will be directed toward strengthening the Trinamool Congress, India Today reported.

The state has also carved out seven new districts. The total number of districts in West Bengal has now gone up to 30. Six of the seven new districts are Sunderban, Ichhemati, Ranaghat, Bishnupur, Jangipur, and Behrampur. One more district will be named in the Basirhat region.
