New Delhi: As the calendar year draws to a close, Shubman Gill has emerged as India’s undisputed century king in 2025, smashing seven international hundreds across formats — the highest by any Indian batter in the year.

The 26-year-old right-hander, who captained India in several series, dominated with 5 Test centuries and 2 ODI tonnes, outpacing every teammate. No other Indian player managed even five hundred in 2025. Yashasvi Jaiswal followed with 4 centuries (including his maiden ODI tonne), while Virat Kohli and KL Rahul each notched 3. Rohit Sharma and Rishabh Pant contributed two each.

Gill’s stellar form came despite his recent exclusion from India’s T20 World Cup 2026 squad due to inconsistent T20I performances (15 matches, average 24.25, 291 runs, no fifties). Yet, his Test and ODI exploits – including a record-breaking 269 as captain — keep him at the forefront of India’s batting charts.

India enjoyed a successful year, winning the Champions Trophy in ODIs and the Asia Cup in T20Is, with Gill playing a key role in the white-ball triumphs. His consistent run-scoring has solidified his position as a modern-day batting mainstay, even as selectors focus on T20 specialists for the upcoming global event.
