Two migrant workers from Ganjam district are reportedly stranded in Congo, Africa.
The stranded workers, who are in Africa for the last 4 months, allege that they are under house arrest and their employer has taken away their passports. They made a video about their plight and shared it on social media.
“We are unable to get our passports as the company has taken away the documents. The Indian government is also yet to provide us any help. We urge them to take steps for our repatriation,” Shibaram Sahu appealed in the video.
Both the workers had reportedly paid Rs 1.25 lakh to get work permit in Congo. Meanwhile, there has been an outbreak of Ebola and some workers have died. This has forced companies to send them back. However, these Odia youth are not allowed to leave their house.
