17 Years After ‘Ghajini’: AR Murugadoss and Aamir Khan May Reunite For Historic Sequel

Mumbai: The 2008 AR Murugadoss thriller Ghajini, starring Aamir Khan, became Bollywood’s first Rs 100 crore grosser. “Ghajini” was a blockbuster, setting new standards in Indian cinema along the way and a remake of Murugadoss’s own 2005 Tamil film starring Suriya.

It is now 17 years later that there is a buzz about a sequel to this movie, Ghajini 2. A recent buzz about the sequel states that the project will be shot as a bilingual film in Tamil and Hindi together, with Suriya and Aamir Khan eventually reprising their roles from their language versions. Allu Aravind, the producer of the first part, expressed interest in potentially reviving the franchise, sparking these speculations.

He further added that before starting work on his current project, Sikandar, he met Aamir Khan for the first time on the sets of his film Sitaare Zameen Par.

While fans are waiting for the official announcement of “Ghajini 2”, Murugadoss is in the post-production phase for “Sikandar”, and Aamir Khan’s films are lined up with “Sitaare Zameen Par”, which is scheduled for a tentative release in June 2025.
